If a ping passes, the program saves its round-trip time. The software continuously sends ICMP echo requests to every host and analyzes its echo replies. A special high-performance engine allows monitoring 8,000+ hosts with 0.01 ms latency precision. The program can monitor many hosts simultaneously, and it interacts with every host independently. The program uses ping monitoring to interact with network hosts and detect their state and network performance. The collected monitoring information is aggregated and represented on charts, so you can easily estimate the hosts performance during any historical period and track its metrics. The program includes built-in tools for data analysis and reporting. You can also configure a script or an executable to be used for custom notifications. The program supports e-mail, Windows Tray and sound notifications. When the program detects changes in the host state or the connection quality, it can notify you of such changes. The program stores information about every ping and allows you to get detailed statistics for any host during any historical period, such as the list of outages, uptime percent, average latency, latency deviation, etc.ĮMCO Ping Monitor allows you to easily find hosts with different state and quality characteristics and navigate to them for detailed information. It uses ICMP pings to detect up/down statuses of the monitored hosts and estimates their real-time connection quality based on packet loss, latency and jitter metrics. The program will notify you of it and prompt for an immediate server restart. The program is designed to automatically ping network hosts and detect their outages and connection quality problems. To start using the selected certificate for securing communication, it is required to restart the server. The Reset Certificate button in the Certificate field should be used to discard the selected certificate and use the default one. The same button is also available in the Certificate field when a server authentication certificate is already selected. You can review detailed information on each of the available certificates using the View Certificate button. A dialog will be displayed showing you the server authentication certificates available on the PC hosting the service. To choose a certificate, you should use the Select Certificate button in the Certificate field. In case you have a private key in a separate file, please use the tool provided by Microsoft for preparing a private & public key pair to be imported into the certificates storage as described here: Pvk2Pfx, Combine PVK + SPC to PFX. The private key must be available together with the signing certificate in the certificates storage. The digital certificate must be placed in the Local Computer certificates storage. The certificate's Valid From date must be earlier and the Valid To date must be later than the connection date. The certificate must include the Server Authentication (1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.1) within its Intended Purpose.Such a certificate should be issued to the specific server host by a certification authority trusted in your organization.įor a digital certificate to be used by Ping Monitor for authenticating the server, the following set of requirements must be met: It is possible to accept this certificate when connecting to the server however, it is strongly recommended to use a certificate that actually identifies the server. If you are interested in such notifications, just check the corresponding checkbox and provide the administrator e-mail address to the Administrator E-mail field.īy default, the server uses a self-signed custom certificate issued to PingMonitorServer.exe, thus there is actually no identification of the server host. If enabled, the server part of Ping Monitor can send e-mail notification messages to the administrator in case of any issues with the server. To open the Server Configuration page, click the Preferences button in the Application Menu and press the corresponding link in the navigation bar on the left of the Preferences dialog within the Miscellaneous group. This page is also used to enable the e-mail notifications on issues with the server, if required. This process can be configured on the Connection Options preference page Pic 1. In a cross-domain case, the client is authenticated to the server using the specified windows credentials, and the server is authenticated with the help of a domain identification certificate enabling communication over a secure socket layer of a TCP channel. When connecting to the EMCO Ping Monitor server using the windows credentials of the session run by the client, the integrated security is used for authentication and communication processes. EMCO Ping Monitor server allows connection from both local and remote clients, including those from other Windows domains and those reachable through the Internet only.
